Little for a Little While

by Stacy on March 15, 2010

It’s a Big World, baby, and you’re little for a little while ….

We keep coming back to this song on Jitterbug.tv, and all three of my youngsters will watch it mesmerized at least two or three times. I love the message, the melody and most of all the imagery in the video. It just helps everyone in my house calm down for a minute and appreciate each other. We climb onto my little sette, cuddle up close to each other and rock back and forth as we watch the story unfold and sing in unison with the woman’s wooing voice.

It’s been my 5 little minutes of heaven the last few days and I thought I’d let you in on my little secret. Do you have a similar trick that gets you through the tough part of the day with your kids? If so, please share!

BONUS: You can get download the song for FREE on ReneeAndJeremy.com

Adorable DIY Nursery Decor

by Stacy on August 27, 2009

Who needs PB Kids or Land of Nod when we could all be creating fantastic works of art like this for our little ones? {on a dime too, I might add}

This graphic DIY rug looks like something created on a hip HGTV design show. Perhaps this year’s Design Star contestants should take a cue from its creators, this would have been a vast improvement to most of the items chosen for the kids rooms they designed last week.

Something about this whimsical, zebra print rug makes me want to crank one out in every possible color combination. Can you imagine the possibilities?

A huge Thank You to The Storque for the detailed how-to instructions, please keep amazing articles like this one coming.
{Forever Yours, Stacey}

Sweet Tweets from Raspberry Kids

This gorgeous Little Chipipi Red Robin wall sticker collection was sent my way shortly after arriving to Texas. With no furniture in the house and plenty of time on our hands, my children and I have become VERY fond of these adorable decals. I wasn’t quite sure how these delicate looking stickers would hold up to being handled by two aggressive toddlers, but they have certainly proven their durability in this house. (Word of Caution: The dragonflies are a bit more delicate than the other pieces) Still, our final verdict: Not only do these decals look amazing but they can take a little abuse too.

rrset_ws03

My youngest (2) loves to stick them all on top of each other, only to immediately rip them apart again and then stick and restick to the walls- over and over and well, you get the idea. My oldest (3) prefers to take his shirt off and stick them all over his body. He gets such a kick out of it and admittedly, I do too. Perhaps one of these days, I’ll manage to have a camera nearby to catch him in action. I’m sure Grandma would appreciate a shot of that. I’m happy to announce the decals are still rather sticky after several play dates with my children and even after being ground into our brand new shedding carpets (I know, what’s with that?) quite a few times. Repositioning is a breeze and the creative possibilities are endless.

Why We Love Them: Besides the fact they’re adorable, the Little Chipipi wall decals are a mom made product that delights the interior designer hiding inside of us AND satisfies our need for a bit of whimsy in the kids bedroom. Also available in butterflies and an adorable surfer-vibe transportation theme, check them out at the always Fresh and always Fun, Raspberry Kids. (Love this store)

Cost: $65 ($55 w/ discount)- While priced higher than average wall decals on the market, these stickers provide a whimsical, artistic feel to the room instead of the novelty commercial look of some others we’ve tried. Note: Prices on site appear in Canadian Dollars, we have done an estimated US conversion for you. Get a 15% discount if you purchase by Earth Day with the coupon code: motherearth15

More Sunshine and Whimsy

by Stacy on February 5, 2009

I’ve got a real treat for you today, the fabulous Ez of Creature Comforts was gracious enough to let us share her Daughter’s Bedroom Makeover.

Just when you thought you’d seen the last of the Whimsical Sunrise nursery, along comes this extremely elegant, chic .. even mature ~ mellowed out version of the theme. This room, designed for a 10 year old, is much more subdued and even more whimsical. It makes me feel like she’s a budding artist living inside of Etsy.

Allow me to introduce you to a little slice of lemon meringue heaven:

Creature Comforts Kids room

I know, gorgeous right? Ez claims she’s a “lazy decorator” and says she spent only $350 on this extreme makeover. I’m left speechless and wishing she could come on over to my house – I’d let her go hog wild for $350. Imagine what she could do to the rest of your home? Or the KSW Green Living Home for that matter …

Just look at the amazing effort that went into selecting the details for this room:

Creature Comfort Kid Details

I just love that striped pillow ~ a few other favorites are the gilded mirror and the little blue desk

Little blue desk

I’m such a sucker for painted wood furniture

My favorite part about this whole makeover is that she lays it all out for you, step-by-step, AND provides you links to almost everything in the room. She also links to her flickr album where she’ll likely add even more info as time goes on. Personally, I’d like to know about the cute paper dolls by the gilded mirror ~ see post.

Head on over to Creature Comforts now to check out the full story on this fantastic Before and After Makeover. Bravo Ez, Job Well Done!! Seriously, let me know went you want to come over and do my house ~ did I mention it’s brand new and I’m moving in 2 weeks? And I’m 7 months pregnant?
