Tasty, Organic Snacks for Kids

by Stacy on April 14, 2010

Ok, I have a confession to make … I think I may be addicted to Clif Bars. Seriously, they are so ooey gooey, tasty good and the perfect solution when we’re out and about and don’t get home in time for lunch. That’s why i jumped for joy when I was asked to try Clif Kid ZBars … and guess what … I think I like them EVEN MORE! :)

Cliff Kid ZBars are more like cookies than their gooey aunts and uncles but still pack a healthy punch and tide my kids over when we’re outdoors walking, hiking, or playing at the park. Their flavors are so delicious, I just had to insist my kids “share” these special treats with me :) (hey, don’t judge – at least I’m teaching them to share, right?)

Happy thoroughly enjoying his 1st Zbar

Since the kids versions only have 130 calories versus the grownup 260 version. I may even replace a few of my go-to snacks with these yummy treat bars. I feel like I’m eating something I shouldn’t be (indulging, dare I say) , but instead I’m getting 12 vitamins and minerals and 7-11 grams of whole grains not to mention 3 grams of protein. Um, I mean that’s what I’m serving my kids … I also rest easy knowing the bar is certified organic and that I recognize every ingredient that went into making it.

Try all 6 amazing flavors (I promise you wont be disappointed)

Blueberry (120 cals)
Chocolate Brownie (130 cals) Tastiest Bar EVER!! Doubles as a special treat/dessert even
Chocolate Chip (130 cals)
Honey Graham (130 cals)
Peanut Butter (140 cals)
S’mores (130 cals)

I found a variety pack of 24 Clif Kid Zbars for just $14 + Free Prime Shipping
($11.90 if you use Subscribe & Save)

* I was not paid to write this product review, however I did receive a free sample of each flavor Zbar in order to form my own opinion on this great product. Clif Zbars will be added to the KSW pantry list (coming soon) as a go-to product for children’s and healthy Mom snacks. If you aren’t familiar with Clif Bar & Company take a moment to read their incredible story here.

Orange Fish & Water Bugs

by Stacy on March 10, 2010

Orange Fish & Water Bugs

It’s Amazing all the things I say,
When Mommy takes me out to play …

Will this stick float? Or this rock hop?
Oh Mom, Did you see those orange fish flop?

I love You Mom. This sure is fun,
Look at those silly water bugs run
away from me as I laugh and play.
I really wish we could stay all day …

There’s nothing more fun than this,
A day outdoors is just pure bliss.

Our Perfect Valentines Day

by Stacy on February 9, 2010

The Westin La Cantera wants to know what the KSW toddlers, perfect Valentine’s Day would be like. Here’s the general consensus of what a perfect V-Day looks like for these two crazy tots.

Begins With This:

Mama’s Sweet Potato Heart Shaped Pancakes with Fresh Strawberries … YUM!!

Followed by a little of this:

Valentines Finger Painting

{We borrowed this awesome piece of work from the Art Emporium}

Then its outside for a little of this and this:

Valentine’s Sidewalk Chalk Murals

Popcorn Bird Feeder

Popcorn Bird feeder from Ordinary Life Magic

After feeding the birds, we’d love to make some of these with Mom:

We found these at Grumpy’s Honeybunch

For Lunch, nothing is better than some tasty PB & J:

Sister likes hers with grape & strawberry jelly and tons of PB. I prefer mine with PB & honey and maybe a few slices of banana – I’m a wholesome, natural kind of kid :)

We’ll take a tiny little nap and then wake up just in time to watch:

Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine for You Special Edition’

If we’re really good, Mom says we can make these

Mom found this idea from this awesome lady at Makes and Takes

For dinner, of course we’ll have our ALL TIME favorite – line noodles with red sauce

Then it’s pajama party time, dancing around with Mom & Dad, jumping on couch cushions on the floor and playing with flashlights before we get whisked away for a bedtime story.

Valentines_PJ_Party

Now, that’s a perfect Valentine’s Day!!!! Of course, it would be really great too if Mom & Dad could win a hotel night stay at a fancy, schmancy hotel. I’ll bet jumping on that bed would be EVEN COOLER!!!

This post is part of The Westin La Cantera Resort‘s Valentine’s Day with a View contest. Enter between Jan. 25 and Feb. 8 for your chance to win a one-night stay for two at The Westin La Cantera Resort on Saturday, February 13, which includes a romantic dinner for two at Francesca’s at Sunset and two rounds of golf to be played at either of our championship courses during your stay. Wrapping Presents the Kidmade Way

by Stacy on December 19, 2009

Kidmade Wrapping Paper

I’m thankful this time of year to have three Merry elves running around my home offering to help me in any way ~ whether it’s Decking My Halls or Ringing My Bells these guys have it covered.

That’s why this homemade wrapping paper activity was just the thing we needed to occupy busy hands on a blustery day. Armed with newspaper, brown paper sacks and some drawing paper we stuck dozens of stickers, stamped many stamps and then wrapped everything with loads of glittering ribbon.

Picture perfect, if I must say so myself, and since we had all the adornments in our craft supply we also did this for, well… FREE! What could be Merrier than that?

Everyday is a Holiday

by Stacy on December 5, 2009

I have always loved the holidays, I might even, love all of the preparation ~ the build up and anticipation ~ even more than the big day itself. I love the gatherings, the cooking, the nice gestures to neighbors and random acts of kindness you see among strangers. I love searching for the perfect gift, spreading yule tide cheer, adorning my home in all things sparkly and twinkly … but most of all, I am falling in love with impressing my visions for the holidays upon my children. This year, I feel as if I’ve found the perfect balance to tie my love for the holidays, my family, Jesus, shopping and arts and crafts {in no particular order} into one fantastically creative and enjoyable time of year.

It all started with a grand plan to complete one fun activity with my children every day until Christmas, and it turns out this small afternoon activity with my kids is all it took to keep everyone feeling grounded and well in tuned to the true meaning of the holiday season.

To make the events even more special, I found this Advent Calendar download from Cici Art Factory and customized it with my own list of toddler appropriate Holiday fun. I’ll print my list below and link up to any photos/tutorials I might add in the coming weeks of all the fun we’ve had.
