Style in One Picture Challenge

by Stacy on June 20, 2010

Paula (always a source of inspiration for me) introduced me to a fun little project happening over at From the Right Bank, but I must warn you it can be a bit difficult. The challenge is to find one image that sums up your entire design philosophy – easy if you fit into one certain niche, not so easy if you love a bit of this and a bit of that. Lucky for me, I’ve ben collecting a ton of images lately, compiling my “dream home” file for that some day when … (I love collecting and dreaming and imagining about those days)

Anyway, I was surprised to find out that I do, in fact, have a certain style … I call it Comfy Coastal Chic and it looks something like this,

{Image found on House of Turquoise}

Comfy Coastal Chic is easily defined with its neutral color palette, open airy spaces, and great use of light. Textiles are soft to the touch and undoubtedly kid-friendly, punches of color show up in unexpected places (see lighting in dining room), and wood furniture is often painted in distressed colors. Nailhead details are ALWAYS welcome.

I’m curious now, how would you describe your design style? Check out all the other What’s Your Style challenge entries if you need some help defining it, then stop back by and let me know.

Having Fun With Fashion

by Stacy on January 11, 2010

I’ve been having a blast doing some of my favorite things- shopping, getting to know some truly great women/mothers and getting a chance to revamp their wardrobes. I never dreamed my Free Wardrobe Consultations would be so rewarding and I can’t wait to get started on my next client. [Will it be you?] With any luck, I may even get the privilege to meet one of my sweetest readers face-to-face for a little shopping retreat. How cool is that?

Anyway, I thought I’d share with you a few of the outfits I’ve recommended for these hot mama’s and get the word out there that I’m on the market for a few new clients. Remember this is a FREE service so you have nothing to lose, and everything to gain from this experience.

These 1st two outfits were selected for Krystal, a lovely young mother preparing for a life in the ministry. Her style is a teensy bit Gap, a tiny bit J Crew and oh yeah, she prefers skirts that cover her knees. Since Krystal is caring for her young son most days, I tried to choose comfortable, modest clothing that showed off her gracious personality.

We’ll be creating looks just like these customized just for YOU. Consider us your personal stylists, so sit back, enjoy some more free time with your family and let us do the shopping. To take advantage of this FREE service, read the full details or send us a quick email, tweet, or facebook page and we’ll get started on your new looks right away.

Steve Madden at ShopStyle

I’d consider myself more of a bookworm than a night owl these days… I find myself opting for trips to Barnes & Noble (with my kids) as opposed to glitzy nights on the town (without them). It works for me, and I love this life. I also love the comfy new wardrobe pieces I’m starting to acquire for this lifestyle. {I’ve never confessed how much of a cheapskate I am when it comes to spending money on myself. I’ll bet you’d be surprised at how affordable most of these looks will be. Wondering about the adorable owl coin purse?? I’d use him to keep some spending money just for me … Chai Latte anyone?}

Old Navy at ShopStyle

You and Your Family are bound to go on several outdoor outings {pumpkin patches, apple orchards, haunted houses, hayrides, football games, etc} this season, so why shouldn’t you have an outfit that’s perfect to wear for all of these trips? Timeless classics that still feel as comfortable as your typical weekend wear, you’ll be able to wear these pieces for years to come.

Arden B at ShopStyle

Here is a great look for Mom’s planning on trick-or-treating this year. The jeans and sweatshirt with the tank are comfy and carefree, yet still presentable enough to meet with your neighbors. The shoes make all the walking you’ll be doing seem easy … and BEST OF ALL they’re eco-friendly!
The necklace and earrings add a little bling to your look and the jacket is light weight and has good pockets with buttons closures to hold your keys, your phone, your ID, and whatever else you’ll undoubtedly end up needing.

KSW wishes you a great night out with your Kids!!!

~ These looks are all part of the KSW group on ShopStyle. You can find links to all of the items pictured above by clicking on the images or by checking out our group. We’d love for you to join our ShopStyle group and even add a few looks of your own. Who knows, maybe you’ll see one of your own creations featured in an upcoming KSW Style File

Kids Stuff World Style

by Stacy on August 25, 2008

Kids Stuff World Style

There we were playing around a little to long last night on one of our all-time favorite sites, ShopStyle, when it occurred to us we had created a look that for the moment captured the essence of Kids Stuff World. It’s bright and cherry, creative, for the most part affordable ($182 for everything you see), young at heart, wash and wear, and slightly whimsical. Not a bad way to describe yourself if you ask me. Click on the image for details on each piece.
