Little Rue

There’s a whole lot of fun happening on Little Rue today. Bright pops of color and loads of whimsy, any of these Freckles & Kitty pieces would be adorable for spring pictures and would certainly stand out in a family photo! I’m having a hard time choosing which one is my favorite (there’s even more eye candy in the shop), which one is your favorite?

On sale through the weekend for $29.90
Sign up for the first time & receive a $10 store credit

Disclaimer: if you purchase one, I’ll get a $10 credit too. If 2 of you purchase … I’ll get Sweet her very own Freckles & Kitty dress (remember the spending freeze? back in effect) and feature her wearing it in an upcoming post. Yay!

Stumped on how to go about entering? Well, here’s my take on it:

————————————————————————————————

Three Reasons my kids deserve to win:

1. My children have no furniture ~ Yep, I said it NONE. If you’ve followed the site you’ll probably remember we recently moved all the way from Germany to Texas. Making a continental move like that, really forces you to choose which items you’ll be taking with you to your new home. Since my kids were transitioning from cribs to real beds and everything we had was a mish-mash of hand-me- downs, we decided to leave it all behind. Now that we’re in the States, the kids could really use some new furniture. In fact, right now they’re sleeping on mattresses on the floor with little piles of clothing stacked all around them. C’mon WFB, help us out, and FAST (why? See #2).

2. There will soon be three of them ~ My third child is due at the end of April. A three year old, a two year old, and pretty soon a newborn with no furniture. I know, I’m a bit ashamed myself. Still, that’s a lot of furniture to acquire at a time when splurging on things like children’s furniture just isn’t in the cards. Again, WFB – we could really use your help

3. We’ve already made great plans for it ~ Don’t believe me? Check out this adorable toddler’s room thrown together on a super tight budget.

Note: The colors of the actual items are much brighter than they appear in these images

Lavender Gingham Panels from Target ~ $6 (Darn, these SOLD OUT)
LED accent lamps from Target ~ $11
Ikea Lack Bookshelf ~ $129
Garden Party Sheet Set from Target ~ $20 SOLD OUT
Flower Wall Peg set from Target ~ $11
Ikea Lack Table ~ $13
Scandi Bean Bag from Target ~ $30

If I win, I’ll probably grab a box spring from Craigslist and then attempt a DIY picket fence headboard.

For a cheap way to finish off the look, I’ll use tons of these around the room

nylon_flowers1

The paper flowers are from Oriental Trading Co, 12 for $5.99 – I found nylon flowers similar to these at Hobby Lobby in all sorts of bright colors really cheap

That’s a complete girls room fully decorated for just $230, that’s a price tag I can live with

cakies_scrap_necklace1

You’re probably already familiar with Rubyellen of Cakies - most likely it’s because of her beautiful crowns, fantastic taste, or her seriously amazing posts -but, now I’d like to introduce you to another side of her, the creative Green side.

Just feast your eyes on this fabulous project, she fashioned from old fabric scraps and you’ll see what I mean. Pure genius I tell you, the icing on the cake? She even tells us how she did it. Get the details on these recycled scrap necklaces here.

The Pleasure in Today

by Stacy on March 23, 2009

KSW Spring Mosaic

A Prayer in Spring

by Robert Frost

Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers today;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.

Excerpt from The Station: A Reminder to Cherish the Journey , Robert J. Hastings

“It isn’t the burdens of today that drive men mad. It is the regrets over yesterday and the fear of tomorrow. Regret and fear are thieves who rob us of today.”

“So stop pacing the aisles and counting the miles. Instead, climb more mountains, eat more ice cream, go barefoot more often, swim more rivers, watch more sunsets, laugh more, cry less.”

“Life must be lived as we go along.”

What a perfect motivation for Spring 2009, I’ll have no problem keeping up the eating ice cream and going barefoot part of the deal. I’m even looking forward to swimming in more rivers (although mine might be swimming pools) and laughing ALOT more, The part I’ll be working on this season, letting go of dread and regret. How about you? Ready to take a leap of faith and enjoy your life?
