Happiness is a Butterfly

by Stacy on October 15, 2008

Butterfly Costume

Man, I love this photo. Are you looking for something really special, but super simple, cheap, and easy for your child to wear this Halloween? Aren’t we all. Thankfully, for those of us who have fiddled around with these costumes till the very last minute, you’ll be happy to know that Martha has us covered. Just take a look at this beautiful butterfly costume. All you need is all black clothing, some wire (a couple of coat hangars will do for me), some tape, and some crepe paper (you could also use fabric for something a little more permanent. That’s it, don’t believe me… here’s the link

Flower Costumes

Here’s a no-sew costume idea brought to us by lovely Martha. This one can be ready in minutes and incorporates clothing you already have on hand. All you need is some felt, fusible webbing, a little trim, a colorful dress or tunic, and some bright tights. Add the cute pollen headband for even more pizazz, as always leave it to Martha. We’ve got a few more costumes only Martha could come up with heading your way…

Last Minute Halloween Costumes

by Stacy on October 12, 2008

Little Lamb

Looking for an amazing Last Minute Halloween costume that you can fashion in a hurry? Not to worry, KSW has you covered ~ check out our list of super cute, affordable DIY costumes you can make in a jiffy. Take this adorable lamb/sheep costume for instance… you can use the instructions found here or you can do what I do and adapt the idea a bit. I’m starting with a childs hooded zip front sweatshirt and turning it inside out to the soft felt side. I’ll cut off the arms and attach hundreds of cotton balls cotton balls didn’t work so well so I ended up using white pom poms (a little more expensive but well worth it). I’ll pair this with some back leggings and a long sleeve black t-shirt and add some ears and face paint and I’ll have a cute animal costume for under $15. If you end up making any costumes you saw here, kindly shoot us a photo of your little one, we’d love to see how they all turn out.

Make your own Forest Fairy Costume

by Stacy on July 9, 2008

Forest Fairy Costume

The folks at Planet Happy Kids came up with the most amazing fairy wing costume and we just had to share it. The premise is simple – cardboard, leaves, and glue. Switch out the leaves for feathers, glitter and sequins, tissue paper… the possibilities are endless. These fairy wings would be great for a fall play date, a slumber party, a girl’s fairy birthday party, or even halloween, although I don’t think we’ll be able to wait that long. Thanks Planet Happy Kids , you just made this BIG kid happy!
