We Have a Winner!!

by Stacy on January 21, 2009

Finally had a moment to compile all of the entries for the KSW Lotus Bag Giveaway and I am proud to announce that Michelle has been randomly chosen as our very first winner. The selection may have been random, but Michelle certainly earned the win (in my opinion) You should have seen the terrific fabric she picked out to be used as a KJ original. (Fabric no longer available, image removed)

Robert Kaufman Fabrics is a favorite of mine anyway, remember the previous Owl Pillow project we posted shortly after the launch of Kids ~ Stuff ~ World? If you missed that post, take a minute to glance through the archives. I’m sure you’ll find some other things you like as well.

With any luck, KJ will be watching this post and may even grant us our wish – a fresh new bag using this fantastic fabric. {Crossing my fingers}

Congratulations Michelle!

A wise old owl once said …

by Stacy on October 21, 2008

It’s not what you know, but hoooo you know. If you’ve been following Kids Stuff World’s DIY Halloween costume series than you know what we mean. There have been lots of fabulous, easy to recreate ideas posted all month and in keeping with the trend we wouldn’t want to disappoint with this one.

Feast your eyes on this adorable owl costume
Owl Costume

Almost perfect, isn’t it. The entire outfit is made up of pants you already own, a beige hooded sweatshirt, some white fleece, two white feather boa’s, and a few miscellaneous feathers.

Something a little different

Owl Tote Bag

So when I stumbled across this super crafty owl tote bag, I just knew it had to be shared with Kids Stuff World readers. In fact, this may just be the item we were looking for to round up all the goodies we have planned for our first giveaway. On an entirely separate note, Ellen from The Long Thread fashioned this bag to hold goodies for little ones on Halloween. This bag would no doubt be perfect for trick or treating but we see so many other uses for this terrific project too. Take a look at the original post here, and find the link to the instructions here. If you choose to make your very own Scrappy Owl Tote bag shoot as a photo, we’d love to see how it turns out.

Hoots Paper Owl Toy

by Stacy on August 20, 2008

Hoots - Paper Owl Toy

Check out Hoots The Owl by Enamor

Sticking with our owl theme, we thought we would pass on this super cute DIY paper owl toy. This adorable owl can be yours in just 10 minutes! Use some thicker paper and you’ve got a permanent piece on your hands. I envision myself experimenting with fun prints and creating different animals. Who knows maybe we can start a Kids Stuff World Paper animal collection. If you’ve got a 3D paper animal you’d like to share with us, email us at kidsstuffworld@gmail.com.
Little Beary Li Hoots
If you’ve made you own hoots, like Little Beary Li send a pic to Enamor, she’d love to see them all.

08-08-08 ~ Our 1 Month Anniversary

by Stacy on August 8, 2008

Kids ~ Stuff ~ World Check out Wordle.net: This is what Kids ~ Stuff ~ World looks like after 1 month

It’s hard to believe Kids ~ Stuff ~ World is already one month old. This first month has been a bit challenging {balancing our real life work with our much preferred online work}, but nonetheless very exciting. Yes, we are dorks and sat by our WordPress Dashboard continously hitting the refresh button watching readers stumble onto our site. Yes, we were so consumed with it that we stayed up way too late each night. But hey, so what, who cares. We’re dorks and we loved every second of it.

We surpassed our first month goal to have 1,000 visitors, but still need to work on spreading the word about our site and securing email subscribers {want to subscribe, see link on top right}. Next month, we will work more on our content and less on frivolously checking our blog stats every 2 minutes. Fortunately, we’ve been blessed with a warm welcome by fellow bloggers. In summary of our first month, we’d like to take a moment to thank the folks that made our first month possible.

First, we would like to sincerely thank the amazing Jannypie for her wonderful banner creations made especially for our site. Janny, you rock! You may have noticed us trying them out a bit this week. Look forward to more stuff from Jannypie when we do our very first interview with her.

Have a favorite? We’d love to hear about it. Comment here or email us at kidsstuffworld@gmail.com

Now for the folks that contributed to the bulk of our posts

1. Coastal Girl – This is one creative momma, her blog is chock full of arts and crafts projects and great photography. We wish she could be our mommy for a day so we could make half the cool stuff she makes with her adorable daughter. I am sure she will be featured on Kids ~ Stuff  ~ World again and again.

2. Tanja from On That Note – This quick thinking mother of two has a few tricks up her sleeve for being a terrific mom and enjoying the process. We could all stand to learn a few things from her.

3. Planet Happy Kids – we found this unique children’s site & blog while searching for posts to feature in the DIY Parenting section and boy did they set the bar for that segment of our site. The Forest Fairy costume has received its fair share of hits and will no doubt continue to bring in interested readers.

4. Blue Yonder – Quite possibly one of the most inspirational parenting blogs we’ve seen. Not only because she is a talented writer and has witty commentary but because you can tell by her stories what values and skills she is instilling in her kids. These boys are truly amazing, If you’ve never had the chance to check them out, you should do so (as soon as you finish reading this post)

5. Wendy from DoziDesign – This talented lady was kind enough to let us share her Target Dress redesign project. But her talent doesn’t stop with sewing, take one look at her site it is obvious this girls got skill. Her eye for color, design, and photography tells us she’s going places. Keep your eye on her, she’s gonna be big.

6. Racheal & Janine from Rubbergob – What can we say about these two talented artists that isn’t immediately evident when you take a glimpse at their cute downloads? Ummm, a few things that come to mind. Mainly, THANK YOU! Thank you for making these adorable pieces FREE. We have already printed these out and are using them in our very own planners. We highly suggest you do the same.

So, maybe you noticed {like we did} a bit of an owl theme going on this month? Owl pillows , owl stationary , owl eco totes … Help us continue this trend throughout August and we’ll compile our first Kids ~ Stuff ~ World giveaway, stuffed full of adorable owl goodies. Can’t wait? Neither can we.

And finally, thanks to all of you who found your way to this site and hopefully want to keep coming back. We’re getting closer to realizing our dream for this site, thanks for tagging along throughout its development stages.

Sincerley,

Stacy
