Cute snack idea

Banana Dots

I stumbled onto a great new blog today called The Toddler Cafe. The host of Toddler Cafe, Jennifer, blogs about all sorts of terrific ways to get kids eating healthy and delicious meals and snacks. Take this super cute Banana Dots recipe. A little creativity turns a typical afternoon snack into something truly special. I’m not sure about your kids but mine love anything I declare “special”. I can’t wait to try this one over the weekend.

Simply slice the banana into rounds, dab a dot of peanut butter (or let the kids do it through a plastic baggie as Jennifer suggests), then sprinkle with coconuts, chocolate chips, peanuts, or even honey. Try one round with one of each topping for a devine sampler platter.

Jennifer, thanks so much for this wonderful idea. I can’t wait to find tons more great ideas on your site.

Adopt an Olive Tree : Nudo

by Stacy on August 21, 2008

So another fantastic blogger, Laura from If it’s Hip It’s Here  really caught our eye with this one. Nudo is an authentic Italian Oil Grove owned by Cathy, Jason, and Roise. I love how they made me feel like I know them already. The beautiful graphics (I’m betting Cathy designed them, don’t know for sure but she looks so darn creative) sucked me right in and before I knew what I was doing I had purchased four trees. Well, Ok not really but I was definitely researching my possibilities.

Nudo Oil
Cathy, Jason, and Rosie sure do appear to be an amazing little family. They also have one amazing marketing campaign that I see really going places. Just think what they can do with each tree sponsored and those cute little tin packages the products come in. Go on admit it, you want some already too

Well, I’m off to do some more research on this one. They even offer you an opportunity to stop by and visit your little olive tree and provide a guarantee that if your tree doesn’t produce to its estimated quota they’ll throw in some of their own oil to make up the difference.

Homemade oil, made fresh from Italy, from my own personal olive tree…. SOLD!

Ways To Save …. Calories

by Stacy on July 27, 2008

I don’t know about you, but I am always looking for ways to cut a few corners when it comes to calories. Today’s calorie saver… The Cranberry Spritzer. I have been trying to eliminate soda from my diet over the last month. For the most part, this is not really that hard. Still, when I get home from work, one of my guilty pleasures is to pop open an ice cold Cherry Pepsi. It’s been a little difficult for me to give this up until I started making myself Cranberry Spritzers instead.

8 oz. Light Cranberry Juice (40 calories)
5-6 oz. Club Soda or other carbonated water
Splash of Lime Juice

This concoction is so refreshing I hardly even miss my Cherry Pepsi. And for just a fraction of the calories, I can drink as much as I want and my waist line will still thank me in the morning.
