I’ve gotten alot of requests recently to share my personal creations here on the website, and there’s something I must confess — while I have no issue publishing all the creative things I find during my countless hours scouring the Blog World, I’m a bit camera shy when it comes to publishing my own endeavors. Nevertheless, I’ve been working up the courage for quite some time now and I guess if I have to make a personal debut … what better time then now!
These were my toddlers handmade costumes last year and they were quite a hit with my kids and the neighborhood. I made them, literally, at the last minute {at work even, shhh}. In fact, I got about halfway through with them and was called away to an important meeting {I spent the entire meeting imagining my fate as the Worst Mother Ever and my kids not having any costumes for trick-or-treating}. Fortunately for me, I happened to work with the best darned group of people in the entire Air Force {world even} and when I got back to my office – well after quitting time, I found these sitting on our conference table – THE MOST ADORABLE CARDBOARD HORSES I had ever layed eyes on. I still get teary eyed just thinking about my team of Airmen cutting templates, gluing eyes and ears, and curling ribbons together ~ all in the name of Halloween.
Now that’s a great Halloween story, don’t you think? I can make this template available if anyone should request it.

Stephanie from Beautiful Impressions has simplified being green for the rest of us and I just can’t thank her enough. She took a regular child’s sweatsuit and a little time and ingenuity and created one terrific child’s Halloween costume. If you have procrastinated this long and think you don’t have enough time to make something personal, think again. Stephanie just made your day.
Check out full details on her blog, here
Update: I’m sorry to report Stephanie has taken down her blog
Don’t worry, we have plenty more handcrafted halloween costumes in the DIY Halloween Costume round-up and we’ll be adding new costumes for 2010 later this week, including the cowboy & cowgirl costumes I made last year.
Thanks so much for stopping by, hope you’ll check out all the other great stuff going on at Kids Stuff World.

So when I stumbled across this super crafty owl tote bag, I just knew it had to be shared with Kids Stuff World readers. In fact, this may just be the item we were looking for to round up all the goodies we have planned for our first giveaway. On an entirely separate note, Ellen from The Long Thread fashioned this bag to hold goodies for little ones on Halloween. This bag would no doubt be perfect for trick or treating but we see so many other uses for this terrific project too. Take a look at the original post here, and find the link to the instructions here. If you choose to make your very own Scrappy Owl Tote bag shoot as a photo, we’d love to see how it turns out.

Looking for an amazing Last Minute Halloween costume that you can fashion in a hurry? Not to worry, KSW has you covered ~ check out our list of super cute, affordable DIY costumes you can make in a jiffy. Take this adorable lamb/sheep costume for instance… you can use the instructions found here or you can do what I do and adapt the idea a bit. I’m starting with a childs hooded zip front sweatshirt and turning it inside out to the soft felt side. I’ll cut off the arms and attach hundreds of cotton balls cotton balls didn’t work so well so I ended up using white pom poms (a little more expensive but well worth it). I’ll pair this with some back leggings and a long sleeve black t-shirt and add some ears and face paint and I’ll have a cute animal costume for under $15. If you end up making any costumes you saw here, kindly shoot us a photo of your little one, we’d love to see how they all turn out.

Wendy from Dozi Design is a lady after our own hearts. Not only is she an extremely talented artist, but she also has a knack for taking everyday ordinary objects and turning them into something truly extraordinary. Take this summer dress project , Dozi eyed this piece on a clearance rack from Target. Its original form was a bit unflattering, so she put her creativity to work and just look at what she created. If you have never been to Dozi’s blog , we suggest you head on over there now. You’ll be glad you did.
Do you have a project you think we should feature in our Restyled or Upcycled column? If so, comment here or email us at kidsstuffworld@gmail.com .
