KSW loves TOMS shoes

by Stacy on December 20, 2008

and we think you will too.

TOMS Shoes is a shoe company with an amazing One for One business model. Meaning, for every pair of shoes you purchase, TOMS will give away a pair of shoes to a child in need.

Since 2006, TOMS has given away over 100,000 pairs of shoes, and in the next twelve months, they will give away an additional 300,000 pairs of shoes to children around the world! Please take a moment to watch this inspirational advertisement on their latest endeavor – 30K in 30 DAYS

In addition to all their giving, TOMS also funds other one for one projects, like this personal favorite of mine:

TOMS feed bag

The FEED bag is designed to raise awareness and funds for hungry children and to help them get into school and out of hunger. Each FEED bag sold will provide a school year of meals for one child in need and give them the hope of an education and a regular meal.

FEED bags are available in burlap or white, and are priced at $65. When you think of the gift you’re giving – it’s a deal that’s so good, you couldn’t possibly pass it up.

Use the link below to take you to their site and take a look around, if the shoes aren’t your style check out the other great items available and their causes. You’ll even get FREE SHIPPING for your efforts.

If you end up purchasing an item, feel free to add this badge to your site – you will have earned it.

99 Red Balloons for Nie

by Stacy on August 19, 2008

Rarely am I at a loss for words or topics to post on, yet the last few days have left me and many others speechless. If you have been around the blogosphere much in the last few years then you probably feel as if you are as much a part of the Nielson family as I do. Stephanie Nielson of the NieNie Dialogues has been leaving her mark on the world over the last few years (since 2005) with her artistic posts, beautiful photographs, adorable children, and distinct parenting style. An absolute favorite of ours, we were devastated to discover Stephanie and her husband Christian were in a plane crash last Saturday, 16 August. While the couple has been reclassified as serious and are no longer in critical condition, it sounds as if they will have months-years of recovery ahead of them. This young, gorgeous mother of four has sustained severe burns and may be away from her children for quite some time. If any of you know/read Nie Nie you know how trying this will be for her. Her family has been awesome and maintains a constant update for her readers here .

Want to do something to help the Nielson’s ? So do we, the family has started two donation accounts. The first is the “Christian and Stephanie Rehab Fund” at Bank of America. The second is the “Stephanie Nielson Fund”  at Wells Fargo. They are looking to set up an online donation soon, we will follow up with another post when it is available. Would you like to do something a little more personal, something a little more NieNie’s style? The family is welcoming letters/crafts to dress the hospital rooms up a bit,

Send cards, pictures, etc. to:

c/o Stephanie and Christian Nielson
Maricopa County Hospital
2601 East Roosevelt Street
Phoenix, AZ 85008

And finally, this Saturday- 23 August, at 5:00 AZ time (6:00 MST/7:00/Central/8:00/Eastern) the family will celebrate a Stephanie tradition. A balloon release with your thoughts, prayers, and wishes scribbled on the balloons in true NieNie fashion. The family asks that you photograph the event, if possible, so you can share it with Steph, it will surely bring a smile to her face to see so many people thinking of her family in this time of need.

NieNie photos by Blue Lily Photography

Steph, wishing you a speedy painfree recovery, countless blessings, and of course… 99 red balloons
