She’ll only be four, for a little while more …

by tomorrow, she’ll be five.

I’m not quite sure what it is about the age of 5, but I’ve had a difficult time adjusting to it twice now. It starts innocent enough, fond reminiscing of all the tender moments you’ve shared, that baby you use to hold so dear. But as the day get closer and closer, a bit of panic seeps in. You start to notice that baby face isn’t quite as babyish anymore, you’re still tops in her eyes — but she realizes it less and less.
I’m starting to think your child turning five is the equivalent to our turning 30. It’s a bit bittersweet.
Still, part of you knows there is nothing you can do to stop it. So, you may as well celebrate the best way you know how! If your child is anything like mine, then I’m sure it’s going to be a great time.
Ever wonder what the perfect week for an almost 5 year old looks like?
Well someone did a pretty great job defining hers.
5 ways to make your child feel special
1. Go somewhere new! Take them somewhere they have never been before. It could be a new park or a special movie, a bike ride on a new route or even a trip downtown (kids love checking out the city). We chose the San Antonio Rodeo because Sweet loves animals. She got to feed goats, deers, llamas, pigs and sheep. Pet a kangaroo, milk a cow and hold a baby chick. Doesn’t get much cooler than that.

4. Go for a picnic

5. Find a nice quiet corner of the library and read an entire stack of books.

Making children feel special isn’t really hard at all, and it certainly doesn’t have to cost any money. These are just examples of the things we did this particular week. I think we celebrated the final days of four to the fullest and I can’t wait to show you how we will celebrate her big day. I just know she’s going to love it.
Did you make any great memories this week?
