KSW Green Living Home

And The Winner Is …

by Stacy on September 2, 2008

The Kids ~ Stuff ~ World Green Living Home is the Bimini from Palm Harbor homes. It was a close contest, but the Bimini won by a mere 6 vote margin. We’re so excited to kick this series off, but, we’re all going to have to wait one more day. As for tonight, check out the home and start thinking about all the Green possibilities we can come up with.

Our Readers Say Size Matters

by Stacy on August 26, 2008

We’ve gotten a lot of feedback on the KSW’s Green Living home project. The overall consensus seems to be that we have chosen a home too large, that does not embrace a truly sustainable lifestyle. Yes, you are right. We chose the biggest, most gorgeous, spacious home we could find for multiple reasons. One- Our target audience is not necessarily fully converted to the green way of living, our job is to help point them in the right direction. 2. Kids is the first word in our title and therefore we will need plenty of space for Kids Stuff (see first two words in Title) 3. The bigger the house, the more stuff we can put inside of it. There is a far greater potential for our readers to investigate the furnishings, supplies, and decor than there is the home itself. 4. This is a virtual project – we aren’t really exhausting any resources (except the energy you use on your PC and for your internet connection)

Still, your opinions matter to us. We figure if all goes well with this project, perhaps we can do a more down-to-earth version next. We are also planning a Green Living Pantry project coming very soon. We hope you understand and still follow along as we progress.

Latest Update:

The Solaro home is currently in the lead by 6 votes. The final decision will be made on Sunday, 31 August so cast your vote now (comment or email us at kidsstuffworld@gmail.com)
Solaro

Don’t count the Bimini out yet, it’s won several awards for its stellar Green Design, and just to clear up any confusion the front door leads to the living room, not the master bedroom like the floor plan eludes to. The floor plan is actually shown kind of backwards from the Solaro model.

We look forward to hearing from each of you!

TaaDaa, A New Series …

by Stacy on August 23, 2008

Kids Stuff world is happy to announce a new series in our “World” category (Use the link to the right to see our other World post). We think we’ll call it Kids Stuff World’s Virtual Green Living Home, but hey we’re women and therefore subject to change things at a moments notice. Inspired once again by the ever beautiful, Jennae of Green Your Decor. We’ve decided to decorate our very own virtual Kids Stuff World Green Living home.

What does all this mean. It’s really quite simple. Let us explain.

We’ll select an energy award winning modular home built to green living standards to decorate and fill with environmentally friendly furniture, decor, and accessories over the next several months. We’ll post about products we’d love to add to the house and slowly fill each room until we have an entirely furnished, beautifully decorated virtual eco-friendly home on our hands. (Jennae- I hope you’re listening, cause we’re probably gonna need your help with this one.)

What can you do to help? I’m glad you asked. Anytime you’re in a store or surfing the web and you see something you’d like to see featured in the house, leave us a comment linking to it or email us at kidsstuffworld@gmail.com

Let’s get started, the first order of business is to select the home we’d like to use for this series. Of course we want our readers to be just as involved in the process as we are so we’ve left it up to you to decide.

Here are your choices, comment on which one you’d like to feature as Kids Stuff World’s Green Living Home

Option #1: The Bimini
