Life in an Instant: Spring Break Edition

by Stacy on March 18, 2012

. stroll in the park hide and seek time together times like these

Spring Break came and went way faster than I was ready for it, all the plans I made, all the activities I thought we would have time for … most of them fell through the cracks or dropped off to the side,

but I have to say -
having this time for just the four of us to let loose, sleep in a little, forget our crazy schedules for a few days and just be ourselves has been really good for us. We genuinely enjoyed one another’s company and just saying that floods my heart with happiness, I love the way these kids love each other. Spring Break was exactly what we needed it to be!

Did you have Spring Break this week
or do something fun with your kids?

it’s twitter party time …

by Stacy on March 16, 2012

its_twitter_party_time

One of Sweet’s favorite songs (if you can call it that), … is

It’s PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME,
PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME!
PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME!

It goes on an on like this for days … I have no idea where she picked up the silly dancing banana song (<- please don’t watch, you will be haunted forever …), but she did. Once or twice a week, I indulge her with her favorite food.

of ALL TIME.

Can you guess?

A peanut butter & jelly sandwich, or some peanut butter & fruit alternative. When we do, we dance & sing and scream around the kitchen this crazy, insane, seriously sticky (as in sticks in your head) song and we all laugh about it. Good times I tell ya.

So when I got the notice that THE Melissa, of Melissa & Doug, would be attending my first Twitter party and that I should “spread” (get it? spread …) the word, those all too familar lyrics started repeating in my head. Yep. For the last two days I have been be bopping around house singing/screaming (to myself),

IT”S TWITTER PARTY TIME,
TWITTER PARTY TIME!
TWITTER PARTY TIME!!

It couldn’t be stopped. I tell you all this, not to get this haunting song stuck in your head or to overwhelm you with Melissa & Doug data all at once, but so you can 1) take a peek at what it’s like up here inside my head (scary) and 2) so you will hopefully join me!!! pretty cool news

by Stacy on March 14, 2012

Hey folks,

Stopping in to share some PRETTY COOL NEWS with you … you know Melissa & Doug? That toy company you just can’t get enough of, the ones with the super cool puzzles, the incredible play food, the educational toys your children love as much as you do … well, they opened up a small blog ambassadorship recently.

They started off with some pretty amazing talent

Val of Inner Child Fun (formerly Frugal Family Fun) and Amy of Teach Mama

And now they’re introducing a 3rd ….

Any guesses on who it will be?

Oh my Gosh, it’s me! (please excuse the photo, really need to get someone to take more pics of ME!)

I can hardly believe I was chosen for this OR that I get to work with such talented bloggers and get to know them in real life too! I’ve been following Val for years, she’s one of the reasons I started this blog and it’s been such a joy to get to know her. You guys know I blog for the friendships anyway, so getting to hang out (online) with Val & Amy is a real treat. Anyway, on to the part YOU care about … this is great news not just for me, but for you as well.

Melissa & Doug make truly fabulous toys, (trust me — we have a ton of them!) and part of the perks of being a blog ambassador is getting to try out new toys when they come out and even sharing a few with you! I can’t wait to introduce you to the new Sunny Patch line. I just know you’re going to love it, sand cupcakes anyone?

seaside sand cupcakes

I’ll be getting my first batch of toys soon and will be sure to share the love with you, I’ll also have some other fun promotions coming your way in the near future.

Stay tuned for more …

Update: What a difference a day makes! Two more incredible ladies have joined the Melissa & Doug Blog Amabassador team. I am thrilled to welcome Zina or Let’s Lasso the Moon and Allie of No Time for Flash Cards to the mix. This is going to be so awesome! Wonder if we’ll get to have a slumber party before it’s all over. Now that would be cool.

Do you have any Melissa & Doug toys in your home?
Which ones are your favorite?

Life in an Instant: Handsome Happy Clover

by Stacy on March 11, 2012

So much of my week has revolved around this little fella. He’s been sick pretty much all of it, but perked up enough on Thursday that he could go to school.

Said he wanted to look handsome today :)

He was excited to go back and see all of his friends, he came downstairs dressed liked this, saying he wanted to look handsome.
Job well done little one.

Probably not what he had in mind when he came home sick today ...

He wasn’t the only one still not feeling well, the Mr. had to come home from work early one day. He probably thought he’d get a chance to rest & recuperate … but these guys had other plans.

Note: Just so you know, we did let him nap before & after this photo

Kid in clover #playoutdoors

We took advantage of the one day Happy felt good and rolled around in fields of clover, found cool rocks and rode our bikes … but then, something scary happened. Thursday afternoon Happy started cramping and by Friday morning it was so severe he was balled up on the floor screaming out in pain. We carried him to the hospital and spent several hours waiting for Xrays. Thank goodness there was nothing major wrong with him, I guess all the sickness we’ve had around here and had caused him to get a little backed up (excuse that image).

Happy 100th Oreo!!

Somewhere in the midst of all the getting better, we made time to celebrate Oreo’s 100th birthday. How could we not celebrate a centennial like that? This was the kids first time eating Oreo’s and it was so much fun teaching them all the different ways they could eat them. I have two that are icing-only eaters and one dunker. Happy dunked all his cookies, then gave him milk to me and told me I could have all the good stuff that was left in there. …. Mmmm, thanks honey. (ha)

Extreme Patience Challenge: building Ikea furniture w/ 3 kids (1 sick & 1 potty training)

Oh yeah, and Monday when I was feeling a bit nauseous and Happy & Sweet were both having upset tummies I decided it would be a great day to put Little in some big boy pants and start building giant boxes of Ikea furniture. Turns out they were pretty good helpers! And we got through it with no accidents, go Little!
Can't believe I forgot to take a before photo ... just trust me when I say -- WORLD'S better!!! I could kick myself for not taking a before photo of the playroom, but here’s a sneak peek of what it looks like now. I’ll show you much more of it soon.

So how was your week?
