Best Days

What a difference a year makes

by Stacy on June 19, 2011

Last year, there they were all cherub like, dressed up in Daddy’s clothes singing Frances England songs refusing to sit or stand still long enough to be photographed.

IMG_6226Life seemed so much simpler then … all those 12 months ago.

Well boo, I had a video of Sweet singing to her daddy all sweetly but I can’t get the sound to work :/

This year, they’re all grown up, still not sitting or standing still but even more reluctant to be photographed. Lucky for me, I’ve learned some new mad iPhoneography skills. Father’s Day Photo Shoots in just a few seconds flat. Whatever did I do before I had an iPhone?

For Dad

Happy Father’s Day baby! Sorry nothing quite turned out the way we planned, thank goodness we’re so good at rolling with the punches and adapting to whatever comes our way. We had a blast this weekend and sure are proud to call you Dad.

Proud Mommy Moment

by Stacy on June 8, 2011

ninja_mom

From now on, you can just call me ….

SUPER AWESOME NINJA MOM!!!

A certain handsome someone handed me this incredibly awesome crayola masterpiece when I came to pick him up from our gym’s play land this morning. The play structure has a direct view of the cardio classes and the kids like to watch Mommy working out some times … guess that’s what they did today because he told me. Look Mom, I drew a picture of you and your NINJA’S!!!! doing exercise. [Talk about a motivation to workout & be awesome!]

I think he’s been watching quite a few of these classes since he is super focused on exercising and yoga these days. He often asks me to demonstrate poses for him and loves to instruct his own classes with Sweet & Little as his students. Don’t worry, he always insists they use proper form and technique. He’s a real stickler that one, yesterday he gave us all a lesson on “Healthy Stretching” and even suggested I get up and do a few laps around the living room instead of checking out Facebook.

I love how interested he is in how his body works, what makes it healthy and how it can be even stronger and even faster if he keeps trying and pushing himself. Having a free personal trainer in the house doesn’t hurt either!

Color Him Happy

by Stacy on May 24, 2011

For those of you who know this Little Man, you’ll know he’s not always the happiest baby on the block. Maybe he is happy … who knows, but he sure has his father’s way of showing it. For the majority of the time, its all scowls and bashfulness for this guy but give him a box of cracker jacks, a funky yellow chair and a baseball and he’s as happy as can be. Who knew?

I snapped this photo during the I Heart Faces Dream Big workshop in San Antonio over the weekend. I am not a photographer, nor was I part of this amazing event. I’m just a mom with a camera and my kids just so happened to be the models for this shoot.

This image was taken during a break between photo sessions — he had just given several ladies a run for their money. NO smiles what so ever and not really wanting to be in any of the shots. He toddled over to his new favorite chair, climbed on up and had himself a snack. I saw an opportunity and took it, as fast as I could. You know toddlers, they don’t sit still for long.

I’m entering this one in to the I Heart Faces yellow photo challenge this week

More behind the scenes from the workshop

A handful of you probably remember that whirlwind cross country road trip my family took back in September, a select few of you might know we were in my baby sister’s absolutely gorgeous wedding and maybe one or two of you know we also went to Disney.

But you probably don’t know about the giant parenting FAIL that resulted from this trip.

Three kids, snacks, diapers, wipes, sunscreen, and water crammed in backpacks means very little room for the nice camera when hitting the park so after a little research I decided to place the photo gig into someone else’s hands for a change and just relax and be in the moment with the kids.

We grabbed a Photo Pass before we even got in the park and I made a point to stop for every photographer we saw to get a family photo. And you know what? It worked! They took gorgeous family photos, from all the best views in the park of all the best moments, ones with ALL of us in them even and we were given a code to access them anywhere, anytime online for 30 days and purchase/download at the time of our choosing.

Do you know when I remembered to purchase these sweet memories I planned to cherish from here to eternity …

3 hours after they were deleted from the Disney database mainframe. :(

FAIL

Thank heavens I had the foresight to crop the screenshots while we were still on vacation. And thank heavens for YOU!!! because you know I cropped them with you in mind. Because of you!! at least I’ll always have this post to remind me of this amazing time when my baby’s were young.

THANK YOU GUYS, YOU ROCK

Ok, now tell me have you ever done something as ridiculous as this? Even if you haven’t, remember all those nice things I just said about you? Humor me for a bit, I still feel like such a putz …

If you, want to call me baby

by Stacy on March 12, 2011

I was pleased as punch to have a chance to steal my littles away for a little mini vacay this week. One of those days where Mommy just says Yes!! and the kids get to call all the shots. We woke up and lazed around for awhile, snuggling and cuddling and having an altogether good time. Then we packed it up and hit the road for a Super Fun Filled Adventure!

The kids requested specifically to make a trip to a fish counter (they’ve been obsessed with buying fish to eat ever since we watched How to Train a Dragon and they learned dragons eat fish, go figure), get a haircut, take a stop at the book store, followed by lunch … also at a STORE!

All within reason, so I happily obliged — except I talked them out of hitting the fish counter before we rode around in the car all day. Hot fish might make a dragon sick you know.

The day couldn’t have played out any better and we had such a fun time together reading and singing and dancing and just being goofy. Here’s a few snapshots of our day, choreographed by the Spin Doctors who played a big part in our fun. I wanted to share this day with all of you, but also preserve the feeling for as long as I could!

Happy, Sweet & Little, your Momma L-O-V-E-S hanging out with you. But you already knew that didn’t you?

One, Two princes kneel before youPat on the back
Princes, princes who adore you.

I’m in awe of how these two have really connected with one another over the last few weeks. Of how Little has just grown in to a Little man in general I guess, I see my baby slipping away from me and becoming this adorable little fella I just want to hold on to tight forever, but I know that won’t be the case.

This one says he wants to buy you rockets,
Like a totally different kid
Ain’t in his head, now

See how he just transformed right before your very eyes? Uggh, he does this to me all the time now. With his looks, his words, his attitude, his abilities – just growing up right in front of me. I feel so blessed to be home to see all these things happen.
Found her singing to all the animals at the bookstore

I’m the one that loves you baby can’t you see

There she goes again, just living it up in her own little world surrounded by things she loves. I caught her in the bookstore serenading these softies and my heart just melted. I tried to catch it on video but she was just barely audible. I could hear her though, singing “If you believe, If you believe” over and over again
We took a mini vacation today

And if you want to buy me flowers
Just go ahead now

They chose this funky little spot for lunch, not because they care anything about the food but because one time one of the waiters gave them a car printout to color — so obviously, this is the coolest place on earth! Works for me too, since I quite like the ambiance and the free flowing chips and salsa.
Introduced them to a little Spin Doctors

That’s what I said now

Cool music didn’t hurt either, when Two Princes by the Spin Doctors came on we just had to jump out of our seats and break. it. down. as we like to call it on our makeshift dance floor.
No love like the love from a brother

Princes, princes who adore you

More hugs and kisses and cuddles and a quick game of pirates in the parking lot makes this pretty much heaven for us.

Now tell us, what’s the last fun thing you & your littles did for fun together?
