We threw a fun salad tasting party at my local Chick-fil-A this week.
Good friends, local bloggers, sweet tea, lemonade, cute little mason jars, stuffed cows, and tasty salads. What could be better!
I’m not kidding when I say I have THE best, most supportive wonderful blogging community there is. San Antonio bloggers rock! I’m such a lucky lady to be able to call them my friends.
We’ve been meeting and organizing things like this for over a year now, and along the way we’ve taken the time to really get to know each other and bring our kids into the mix as well. Now, my children’s best friends are all kids from this group, as a military family living far from our loved ones I can’t tell you how important this network has become for me. They are like family – really cute family.
The party was adorable. Red balloons and stuffed cows, gift cards and these fun mason jar glasses I made using lids from Shop24 were waiting for each guest. Of course, “THE COW!!!!” (as my kids like to call him) made a few appearances, paused for photographs and even did a little dance for us.
After the dancing, we got busy tasting salads. Seriously, have you had a chance to try any of the new Chick-fil-A premium salads yet? They are so tasty!

My personal favorite was the Grilled Market Fresh salad: grilled chicken on a bed of romaine lettuce and baby greens, sprinkled with real blue cheese crumbles, fresh strawberries, diced apples and blueberries – plus I added roasted nuts. The flavors were divine and I still can’t believe the whole salad is only 180 calories!!!! I am so excited to make this my new go-to salad and not feel guilty about munching on a few waffle fries. Mmm, waffle fries.
Cool points, that the grilled market salad was also gluten-free, including the Apple Cider Vinaigrette.
I didn’t think the asian salad would be for me, but you put some hot chopped nuggets and mandarin slices on a salad and well, call me happy. The Honey Sesame Ginger dressing was NOT gluten-free (boo!) so I can’t tell you what it was like but I heard others say it was good. I asked if I could swap for grilled chicken instead of nuggets so I could enjoy it on future trips to Chick-fil-A. My local store is super accommodating, I bet yours would be too!
The Cobb Salad was the heartiest of the three, the cheese, roasted corn, and avocado lime ranch dressing paired with the nuggets made it very filling. This would be a great dinner option for moms on the go. Next time I’m trying mine with the honey mustard dressing … mmm.
All in all, I was super impressed with how Chick-fil-A has modified their menu to be healthy, tasty and different from all the other fast food chains out there. Adding calorie counts to the menu gets huge props from me too.
All three of these salads come in under 430 calories (not counting dressings or add on packets like wontons or nuts)! Which is really impressive for the taste you get. I like that they thought enough to pair full servings of fruits and veggies + proteins and healthy fats into the mix. It’s the perfect well balanced meal for summer.
