Join me for a Texas Sized Holiday!

by Stacy on November 20, 2012

Christmas in Texas just doesn’t get any better than in San Antonio! That’s why Southern Living named it:

Best City for a Southern Christmas

Besides the breathtaking Riverwalk light display … there is something spectacular happening up on the hills of La Cantera. Each year, the Westin La Cantera puts on an event like no other, the Hill Country Holidays, it really is an event not to be missed!

My favorite part about Hill Country Holidays, no, its not the ice skating rink, or the Majik Theater production of Bucaneers in Toyland, or the cowboy led legendary holiday walking tour … that ends with a magical snowfall!

It’s all of that and more. You see, the Westin La Cantera opens this event up to the entire city. Children from all over can come and sip hot cocoa, build a wooden toy, decorate some cookies, sit on Santa’s lap and play in the North Pole!

The Westin La Cantera really gets the family tradition part of Christmas and makes it a wonderful experience for the entire family. They have a team of “elves” who work to make sure of that.

The Hill Country Holiday event begins
this Thursday, 22 November – Sunday, 6 Jan.

This year, I am thrilled to be staying on their property to experience all that Hill Country Holidays and Frost has to offer, but even more EXCITING than that is my opportunity to give one of you a night in this incredible resort as well!!!

Your family will love this unique Texas holiday experience.

Westin La Cantera Hill Country Holidays

The giveaway will include a (1) night stay at the resort and tickets for Frost, the outdoor, synthetic ice skating rink for a family of four (4), plus a $25.00 resort credit per night of stay. Your $25 nightly resort credit can be used to experience the Hill Country Holidays activity of your choice, or indulge in any other resort amenity, including restaurants.

We celebrate Hanukkah so we always make our decorations every year. It’s always a lot of fun and cheaper than buying decorations. :)

One of our favorite traditions is to have a family “slumber party” around the Christmas Tree Christmas Eve.

Best tradition (and it’s super corny) getting everyone the same exact pajamas and making them wear them on Christmas eve. My hubs goes along with it, for me. I love it and it makes the night fun and Christmas morning even better.

This would be so awesome! My family had lots of little traditions we did from Thanksgiving through Christmas. My parents moved overseas recently, so we won’t get to be together until after Christmas this year and my husband’s family does not really make a big deal out of Christmas. :-( A night away with my husband and son would make it feel more special this year!

being able to do both sides of the family – DH on Christmas eve and mine on Christmas day, is a big deal for my kids, so I love that we live close enough to see all the relatives in such a short time span

Our favorite tradition is to use the felt advent calendar my mom made us. My boys (1 & 2) love the little decorations that get ‘velcro-ed’ to the tree each day.

We love San Antonio, and on a student budget, winning this would be a real Christmas treat for us!

We don’t get a lot of time together, so come holiday season we love doing things together. One of our favorite things to do it load up in the van. Everyone with their pajamas and hot chocolate and take a drive to look at Christmas lights. There is something so magical about it. Love it.

As soon as Thanksgiving is over we start decorating for Christmas; indoors and out! We can’t wait to experience the holidays this year in a new home close to our grandkids, where they can experience our holiday traditions and we can make new ones with them. Enjoying the Hill Country Christmas with our family would be the beginning of a wonderful new Christmas tradition.
