His
HERS
A quick peek in to our world this week, they couldn’t be more different but we’re counting down the days till our pictures have all of us in them again. What you’re seeing on my end is a few of our classic ways of dealing with Daddy being gone so much – lots of cuddles, trips to Target (been trying to cut these out, but on longer trips … a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do) and family game and movie nights. Do you have any fun routines you do just when Daddy’s away? Sure does help to pass the time away.
What’s going on in your world this week?
I invite you all to share similar moments from your week here with me, or on Instagram (I’m @steet) by using the hashtag: #liai (<- Life in an Instant) or even on my Facebook page. Whatever is easiest for you, however you can reach me. I’d love to see what moments are taking hold in your heart this week.

i like the hulk mask the best
The hulk mask is awesome, I know what you mean about cutting down on Target trips, I can’t seem to leave there without spending more than I’d hoped. But it sure does fill an afternoon quite nicely!

Your blog post brought back memories of my husband being away for weeks at a time at work. Now, we are grandparents. One of the things the kids and I would do was have odd things for dinner: breakfast foods, inventive casseroles, root beer floats. My hubby is a meat and potatoes kind of guy. Another thing we did was called “Championship of the World.” We would play games of Nertz, Uno, Skip Bo, etc. and whoever lasted through the determined number of rounds would be declared the winner. We went on lots of adventure walks trying to discover new specimens or collect nature items. Homeschooling made every venture a learning experience.
My husband used to travel too, but thankfully doesn’t as much as he used to! One thing we did was pancakes for dinner on Fri nights when he was gone. We often added chocolate chips.
My husband never considered breakfast for dinner a real meal, but the kids always thought it was fun!
I also sometimes let them each take a turn sleeping in my bed (towards the end of the trip). I was hesitant to do it when they were little (2 and under) because I was afraid they wouldn’t understand it was a special thing… but now that they’re a little older, it’s a fun way to mix things up!
