Small Hands Creating Hope & a Giveaway

by Stacy on June 2, 2012

A few months ago, my sweet friend MaryAnne approached me with an idea she had to celebrate her 30th year of being cancer free. She wanted to do something that mattered, something wonderful, something that would not only raise money for the American Cancer Society, but also place hope into the hands of cancer patients, survivors and their families.

I fell madly in love with the idea and so did 40 other bloggers, who worked side by side with their children to create the inspiring craft projects you see here.

small hands creating hopeThe projects are amazing.
and simple.
and incredibly creative.
Something you can do with your children and then share with family members who could use a pick me up, or even make them for a local cancer center.

I know we will be making a few of our project to take to CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital this summer.

This is the cheerful butterfly banner we submitted to the project and boy did we have a great time making it! It looks fantastic in our playroom, but was designed to cheer up a stark hospital room (they just never feel cozy do they?) or a gloomy bedroom someone is spending too much time in.

The thought was children could use simple materials to create something to brighten up someone’s day.

Small Hands Creating Hope.

Now all of the craft projects have been complied together (with tutorials) into an e-book you can receive for making a donation of $15 or more to the American Cancer Society. After you make your donation, you will receive an email with a link to download the e-book. If you donate $15 or more and don’t get an email with the download link – contact me right away so we can get that fixed.

Trust me, it is fantastic! 70 pages of crafts kids can make and heartwarming stories of how cancer has touched these families.

There is also a paperback version of this book you can purchase after making your donation (of $15 or more) for just $10.52. This price is just to cover our production costs of the book, we do not make any money off of it nor do proceeds go to benefit ACS or MaryAnne. BUT, it is a wonderful keepsake and would make a really lovely gift. I highly recommend it.

So much in fact, I want to give a few away.

Small Hands Creating Hope

Donate to the American Cancer Society

Starting today, you’ll have plenty of chances to be entered to win a few of these books. I am even going as far to say the first 5 KSW readers who donate $30 or more to the American Cancer Society through our page, will receive a free hardcopy version of this book. Free meaning, I will buy it and send it to you as thanks for your donation.

We are trying to raise $3,000 by MaryAnne’s 30 year celebration of being cancer free – July 4th. We are at $600 right now and would really appreciate your help reaching this goal.

Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone could celebrate their 30 years of being cancer free?

Here’s to a world with less cancer and more birthdays!!

Disclosure: I get .15 cents for every time you watch this video. Fifteen cents to buy as many small hands creating hope books as I possibly can to share with the world. So please watch. The banner is lovely. We would find some inspiration in the book to make something for my husband as he has had some low times over the last few months as his best friend is undergoing chemo and his dad has had radiotherapy and is now awaiting an op.

Fabulous idea and great cause! Truly inspirational! Loving the butterfly garland. Thinking our new children’s group that will meet during the school holidays could make one together. I’m planning on offering crafts and it would be a lovely community project to give to the local children’s hospice. Now to gather those craft materials left from our recent street party celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. I know there are some doilies in there somewhere :) P.S. So glad to have found you BTW

Fabulous idea and great cause! Truly inspirational! Thinking our new children’s group would really benefit from this book. It’s made up of all the children who came to our road’s street party to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Just one way we’re trying to create more community around here. Making the butterfly garland together to give to the local children’s hospice would be a fantastic thing to do. We could make it our first craft project. Now to gather those craft materials left from the street party… I know there are some doilies in there somewhere :) P.S. So glad to have found you BTW… sharing…
