Kohl’s Cares for Kids Giveaway

by Stacy on May 28, 2009

Kohl’s has cooked up a great way to keep kids reading through the summer months. Now through the end of June, Kohl’s is offering “Duck at the Door” and “Duck Soup” by New York Times best-selling author and illustrator Jackie Urbanovic along with coordinating plush toys.

Max the duck and Brody the dog, along with the coordinating books, are available for only $5 each at all Kohl’s stores and online at Kohls.com as part of the Kohl’s Cares for Kids program.

Through the Kohl’s Cares for Kids program, 100 percent of the net profits from sales of the Duck books and plush toys will benefit children’s health and education initiatives nationwide.  Since the Kohl’s Cares for Kids program’s inception in 2000, Kohl’s has turned $5 merchandise into more than $126 million that has made a positive impact on the lives of children across the country.

In addition to the merchandise program, Kohl’s Cares for Kids features the Kohl’s Kids Who Care Scholarship Program, which will recognize more than 2,000 young volunteers in 2009 with a total of nearly $350,000 planned in scholarships and prizes; the A-Team Program, which encourages associate volunteerism and provided more than $5.6 million in grants to youth-focused nonprofit organizations; and fundraising gift cards for schools and youth-serving organizations. For more information, visit http://www.kohlscorporation.com/.

This year, KSW is helping Kohl’s spread the word about the Kohl’s Cares for Kids program by giving away 5 sets of Max the Duck plush toys and coordinating books. That’s right, there will be 5 lucky winners!

Enter to win this outstanding prize package by leaving a comment stating one of the following: your child’s favorite book, your favorite book to read with your child, or an interesting way you’ve incorporated reading into your family’s lifestyle.

Contest Ends Saturday, 6 June at 11PM CST

Reading is great. It’s so great that once a week I take my son to the library for him to choose his own books. He loves it. We even got him his own library card so he feels special. This fits great for our family.

The family that reads together, stays together!

Hello! What a wonderful duck plush and book giveaway!
My husband grew up loving Dr. Suess books and our two sons
love having their dad read to them before bedtime. I have
always enjoyed P.D. Eastman books and one of my favorites
is “Are You My Mother?!” One way I enjoy working reading
into our family is reading the funnies with our sons.

I always include at least one book in every present I give … baby showers, baby or kids birthdays, holidays, etc. We read to our daughter every night and I hope other parents do too.

My granddaughter loves any kids book that rhymes. My daughter-in-law uses reading as a way to calm her down when she’s been overly stimulated (her words … I didn’t realize you could over-stimulate a 14 month old).

We read to our two boys every night. The one year old sort of gets the short version because he falls asleep very quickly but the three year old loves to pick two or three books each night.

My son, Jack’s, favorite book right now is “Diary of a Wimpy Kid.” Everytime he finishes a chapter book, our entire family jumps on the bed to celebrate- fun for me and fun for him! Great, easy incentive too for his younger brother who now wants to read so we can jump on the bed!

My son’s favorite book is The Lorax. As a family, each night after my son reads to us, we snuggle up together and my husband reads to the 3 of us. We read large chapter books that my son is too young to read by himself yet. It is such a wonderful part of our routine, that if we are running behind and miss it, my son gets very emotional.
Thank you.
