Ways to Save: Eco Font

by Stacy on February 19, 2009

According to SPRANQ creative communications (Utrecht, The Netherlands), your printer’s ink cartridges (or ink toner) could be lasting you longer. To prove their theory, SPRANQ developed their brainchild, the Ecofont.

The premise is simple really, they ran extensive tests to determine how much of a letter could be removed while still allowing it to be readable, the result ~ the super stylish EcoFont.

Ecofont

Why We Love It: You actually use less ink when printing, 20% less ink, in fact. You’re not only saving money, but you’re also conserving resources.

Free to download, free to use.

Please Bear With Us

by Stacy on February 8, 2009

Posting to Kids Stuff World will be a bit sporadic the next few weeks. Please bear with us, as I transition from my life in Germany to my new home in Texas. My computer will be in transit until mid-April but not to worry – I have a few things planned for working around that. Don’t expect to see me much happening here next week, but after that posting shouldn’t be non-existent, just … sporadic (yes, I like that word)

In the meantime, I invite you to take a look around, read up on some of our older posts and get to know KSW a little better. While you’re here, leave a comment or two ~ I’d love to hear what you’re all up to. Here’s a few great finds to get you started:

~ Adorable DIY Owl Pillows

KSW Faves

More Sunshine and Whimsy

by Stacy on February 5, 2009

I’ve got a real treat for you today, the fabulous Ez of Creature Comforts was gracious enough to let us share her Daughter’s Bedroom Makeover.

Just when you thought you’d seen the last of the Whimsical Sunrise nursery, along comes this extremely elegant, chic .. even mature ~ mellowed out version of the theme. This room, designed for a 10 year old, is much more subdued and even more whimsical. It makes me feel like she’s a budding artist living inside of Etsy.

Allow me to introduce you to a little slice of lemon meringue heaven:

Creature Comforts Kids room

I know, gorgeous right? Ez claims she’s a “lazy decorator” and says she spent only $350 on this extreme makeover. I’m left speechless and wishing she could come on over to my house – I’d let her go hog wild for $350. Imagine what she could do to the rest of your home? Or the KSW Green Living Home for that matter …

Just look at the amazing effort that went into selecting the details for this room:

Creature Comfort Kid Details

I just love that striped pillow ~ a few other favorites are the gilded mirror and the little blue desk

Little blue desk

I’m such a sucker for painted wood furniture

My favorite part about this whole makeover is that she lays it all out for you, step-by-step, AND provides you links to almost everything in the room. She also links to her flickr album where she’ll likely add even more info as time goes on. Personally, I’d like to know about the cute paper dolls by the gilded mirror ~ see post.

Head on over to Creature Comforts now to check out the full story on this fantastic Before and After Makeover. Bravo Ez, Job Well Done!! Seriously, let me know went you want to come over and do my house ~ did I mention it’s brand new and I’m moving in 2 weeks? And I’m 7 months pregnant?

A Valentine’s to Remember

by Stacy on February 5, 2009

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be all about marketing and merchandising – disregard the VDay Gift Guide we posted earlier :)

More than likely it is the sentimental meaning behind Valentine’s Day: the one about showing love and affection to those who matter most to us that we would like to pass along to our children. KSW understands that philosophy, in fact, we love that philosophy. We love it so much that we’ve compiled some great resources to help you share a simple, heartfelt, meaningful handmade holiday at home with your child. (Boy that was a mouthful)
